Budget airline Transavia has cancelled some of its flights in May and June as a result of soaring fuel prices sparked by the war in the Middle East.

Passengers flying from the Netherlands will not be affected by the cancellations, which have been announced by Transavia’s autonomous French division.

Around 2% of flights to and from France have been removed from the timetable. Passengers with tickets can choose to rebook for no cost or accept a voucher or full refund.

Transavia’s Dutch branch said it was not planning to cancel flights in the near future, but the airline has added a surchage of €10 to some return flights.

Flag carrier KLM, Transavia’s parent airline, said last month it was scrapping 160 flights to short-haul destinations including London and Düsseldorf.

KLM is still flying on the popular routes, but the company said it had decided to cut the number of daily departures because they were less profitable.
